PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project Sport for the Whole Family aims at encouraging the participation of the European population in sport and physical activity, focusing especially on the target group of families.
The data available on participation in Sport in the EU countries shows the need to ideate new ways to involve families in sport, across different ages, but also to give families instruments to benefit of the educational and social value of sport, that is widely recognized by the scientific community.
This project aims to increase the possibility of families practicing sport, as well as promoting the value of sport as a powerful channel for education and intergenerational dialogue.
The project shows its framework in the Erasmus + program, addressing the sectorial priority:
“Encouraging participation in sport and physical activity” because it promotes intergenerational sport, creating and sharing new practices of sport for the whole family.
The project’s general objective is: “to develop family physical activity in order to promote a healthy life for all its members”.
The project’s activities address a target group who is currently doing not enough physical activity, because of some difficulties. Therefore, they will contribute to making the sport more inclusive and accessible, reaching a target group that is excluded from this possibility.
According to the guidelines of the European Union, our project aims at addressing these issues both at local/regional level, empowering the regional economies, and transnational level, creating an opportunity for exchange of best practice and knowledge building among organizations and families located in different EU countries.
The activities designed to achieve the objective follow two paths: the first, aimed at coaches and the second, aimed at the public. In fact, we believe that success can only be achieved by working on both targets. Furthermore, each group can fill a need in society: first we build capacity for coaches (supply) and in the meantime we raise awareness among the public (demand). Both actions can work with each other to increase the effect of each.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The project aims to achieve the following specific objectives:
-
To develop a program of activities and strategies to make sport activity accessible for intergenerational groups, involving 1 sport manager and 2 sport coaches and from each partner country, who will participate in international meeting.
-
To conduct a survey aimed at identifying specific needs and resources on the current sport offer for families in the European countries, reaching a minimum of 200 people (sport coaches and families);
-
To implement a test local program, involving at least 15 families for each partner country and to implement more after the project’s end.
-
To create an interactive web platform for sport coaches and families, where these audience will have access to the results and contents of the project, and to a local and European network of “Sport for the Whole family” initiatives.
